U2 is an Irish rock band from Dublin formed in 1976 and the group consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), The Edge (lead guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar) and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion).

In 1980, the rock band signed to Island Records and released their debut album Boy (1980). The group released five more albums in the 1980s. Initially rooted in post-punk, U2’s musical style has evolved throughout their career, yet has maintained an anthemic quality built on Bono’s expressive vocals and the Edge’s chiming, effects-based guitar sounds.

The popular rock band reinvented themselves in the 1990s. Starting with their acclaimed seventh album, Achtung Baby (1991), and the multimedia-intensive Zoo TV Tour, the band pursued a new musical direction influenced by alternative rock, electronic dance music, and industrial music.

Staged in support of their 1991 album Achtung Baby, the worldwide Zoo TV Tour visited arenas and stadiums from 1992 to 1993. The Zoo TV Tour was an extensively staged multimedia spectacle and the concept of the tour was inspired by a variety of television programs, coverage of the Gulf War, the desensitizing effect of mass media and radio programs in the morning zoo.

Comprising five legs and 157 shows, the Zoo TV tour began in Lakeland, Florida, on 29 February 1992 and ended in Tokyo, Japan, on 10 December 1993. The tour alternated between North America and Europe for the first four legs before visiting Oceania and Japan.

The band’s 1993 album, Zooropa, was recorded during a break in the tour and delved deeper into the mass media themes.

30 years after the start of the Zoo TV Tour, the four members of U2 have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Pop! Rocks series. Funko has announced four Pop! vinyl U2 Zoo TV figures and an exclusive Walmart 4 pack.

In addition to the announced Funko Pop! Rocks figures, U2 fans can get ready for a U2 Zoo TV Pop! Rides figure. Bono and the iconic colorful Achtung Baby car have been given a Funko Pop! makeover and are the latest addition to the Pop! Rides series.
