The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). The film, an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was primarily directed by Victor Fleming.
The film tells the story of young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto, who are swept away by a tornado from their farm in Kansas to the magical Land of Oz, and with three new friends set out to find the wizard, who can return her to her house and fulfill the wishes of the others.
