Funko has announced new Funko Pop! vinyl collectibles from the animated television series ThunderCats.

ThunderCats is an animated television series that originally aired from 1985 to 1989.
Produced by Rankin/Bass Productions, the show follows the adventures of a group of feline humanoid warriors from the planet Thundera. After their home is destroyed, they flee to Third Earth, where they establish a new home while battling various threats, most notably the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra.
The main protagonist is Lion-O, the young and inexperienced leader of the ThunderCats, who wields the powerful Sword of Omens, which grants him the ability to summon the Eye of Thundera, a mystical force that gives the group strength.
Other key members include Panthro, the team’s mechanic and strongman; Tygra, the intelligent architect and scientist; Cheetara, the swift and agile warrior; and WilyKit and WilyKat, mischievous twin siblings. They are also accompanied by Snarf, their caretaker and comic relief character.
The primary antagonist, Mumm-Ra, is an ancient, evil sorcerer who seeks to conquer Third Earth and obtain the power of the Eye of Thundera. He commands various villainous factions, including the Mutants of Plun-Darr, who originally pursued the ThunderCats to Third Earth.
The series was praised for its compelling characters, unique world-building, and blend of science fiction and fantasy. It developed a strong fan base and led to spin-offs, including ThunderCats (2011), a darker reimagining, and ThunderCats Roar (2020), a more comedic take.
Despite ending in 1989, ThunderCats remains a beloved classic, influencing later animated series and continuing to appear in comic books, video games, and merchandise. Its themes of heroism, teamwork, and responsibility have kept it relevant among fans of ’80s cartoons.
