Inside the Ultimate Funko Pop! Vinyl Collector’s Guide – Why This Book Covers 88 Pop! Series (Not Just Franchises)

Welcome to Inside the Collector’s Guide, a blog series that dives into the structure, features, and content of the most complete Funko Pop! book ever released.

The First-Ever Printed Funko Pop! Vinyl Collector’s Guide

We’ve covered how this guide changes the way you collect — and how the checklists actually work.
Now let’s talk structure: why this book follows Pop! Series instead of franchises.

📍 Why This Book Covers 88 Pop! Series (Not Just Franchises)

Funko collectors collect in different ways.

Some go after everything from one Pop! Series — like Pop! Rocks or Pop! Marvel.
Others focus solely on one franchise — like Dragon Ball Z, Harry Potter, or Stranger Things.

So why didn’t this book follow franchises?

The short answer: because there has never been one complete book showing every released Funko Pop! Vinyl figure — and to build that, we needed structure first.

🧱 The Foundation: Why We Chose 88 Pop! Series

Funko officially organizes its Pop! Vinyl figures into one product line, divided into different Pop! Series:

  • Pop! Animation
  • Pop! Marvel
  • Pop! Television
  • Pop! Movies
  • Pop! Rocks
  • …and 80+ others.

Each Funko Pop! figure is released under one of these Pop! series, with its own box, series label, and number.
But the system isn’t perfect. Missing numbers, reused numbers, rebrands, spin-offs — you name it.

That’s exactly why structure matters.

This book — the Master Edition — follows those official 88 Funko Pop! Series, cleaned up and verified.
It brings them together into one controlled, complete guide — for the first time ever.

🤔 Why Not Just Use Franchises?

Structuring the book by franchise might sound logical. But it breaks down quickly.

Here’s why:

  • Marvel Pops are released in Pop! Marvel, Pop! Rides, Pop! Town, and more.
  • Disney spans Pop! Disney, Pop! VHS Covers, Pop! Movie Posters…
  • One franchise spreads across many Pop! Series.

If we sorted only by franchise, figures would be missing or duplicated.
That’s why the Master Edition comes first — to establish a complete, stable overview.

📦 What About Multi-Packs?

Funko releases tons of 2-packs, 3-packs, and larger bundles across nearly every Pop! Series.
These are just as collectible — but unlike single figures, they aren’t numbered.

In the Master Edition, these multi-packs are listed at the end of each Pop! Series checklist.
To avoid chaos, we’ve sorted them by franchise — so you can still find that Naruto 2-Pack or Stranger Things 4-Pack without digging.

In the Franchise Editions, these multi-packs will appear under the relevant franchise, right alongside single figures and other special releases.

No matter how a figure was packaged — if it belongs to the franchise, you’ll see it.

🔍 So Where Do Franchise Editions Fit In?

Franchise Editions are coming — and they’re going to be powerful.
They’re built on top of the Master Edition’s groundwork.

Take Pop! Animation, for example. That single series includes franchises like:

  • Dragon Ball
  • Naruto
  • One Piece
  • My Hero Academia
  • …and many more.

Franchise Editions will split those out, giving you full checklists by franchise — not just series.

And they go beyond the core series.

For example: in the Pop! Animation Franchise Edition, there will be a dedicated One Piece checklist — which doesn’t just include One Piece figures from Pop! Animation, but also One Piece Pops released in other series like Pop! Rides, or any other line.

You’ll get the full picture. Without the digging.
