Funko Pop! New Releases

New Sonic the Hedgehog Funko Pop! Wave Announced – Summer 2025 Release

Funko has unveiled a new wave of Sonic the Hedgehog Funko Pop! Vinyl figures, expanding one of the most recognizable and well-established collections in the Pop! universe.

What’s New in Pop! Games: Sonic the Hedgehog

For longtime fans and collectors, this release brings fresh variants and long-overdue additions to the lineup.

This isn’t the first time Sonic and friends have received the Pop! treatment—far from it. Over the years, multiple waves have featured Sonic in various forms, alongside fan favorites like Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman.

This new release builds on that legacy and keeps the momentum going.

About Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game series and media franchise created by Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for the Japanese video game and entertainment company Sega.

Sonic the Hedgehog made his debut in 1991 on the Sega Genesis and quickly became one of the most recognizable video game characters of all time.

What began as a rivalry to Nintendo’s Mario soon evolved into a global franchise with video games, animated series, comics, movies, and of course, merchandise.

At the heart of Sonic’s appeal is his speed, attitude, and ever-expanding universe of allies and enemies. From classic characters like Tails and Knuckles to newer additions like Silver and Blaze, the franchise continues to evolve while staying rooted in its retro roots.

Thanks to its success, Sega became one of the leading video game companies during the fourth generation of video game consoles in the early 1990s.

The past few years have seen a major resurgence for Sonic. With two successful live-action films, a third movie on the way, new game releases like Sonic Frontiers, and the streaming series Sonic Prime, the blue blur is arguably more relevant than ever.

New Sonic the Hedgehog Funko Pop! Vinyl Figures

Characters from Sonic the Hedgehog have been transformed into Funko Pop! Vinyl figures and are part of the Funko Pop! Games series.

  • Silver the Hedgehog (Diamond Collection) – Target Exclusive
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (Pearlescent) – Funko Shop Exclusive
  • Blaze the Cat
  • Jet the Hawk
  • Neo Metal Sonic (Metallic)
  • Espio the Chameleon

While some characters like Blaze, Jet, and Espio haven’t appeared in earlier waves, they’ve long been part of the franchise and are familiar to dedicated fans.

The variants of Silver, Sonic, and Neo Metal Sonic add visual depth to the collection, with metallic, glitter, and pearlescent finishes aimed squarely at collectors who appreciate distinct display pieces.

Sonic fans have seen multiple Pop! waves over the years, and this latest addition is a strong continuation of that tradition.

Instead of reissuing the same core characters, Funko has tapped into deeper parts of the Sonic lore to introduce Jet the Hawk and Espio—figures that will especially appeal to fans of the Sonic Riders games and the Chaotix team.

Variants like the Diamond Collection Silver and the Pearlescent Sonic also add extra value for collectors who chase limited releases and store exclusives. These versions not only stand out on the shelf but also build hype for potential future waves.

With six characters in total, this release strikes a good balance between mainstays and deeper cuts, making it ideal for both new collectors and Sonic veterans looking to expand their display.
