About Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 8 is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. First serialized in 2020 and adapted into an anime series by Production I.G., the story takes place in a world constantly under threat from giant monsters known as kaiju.
The plot follows Kafka Hibino, a man who gains the ability to transform into a kaiju himself after an encounter with one of the creatures. Torn between two worlds, Kafka joins the Defense Force, a military organization tasked with eliminating kaiju threats, while secretly hiding his monstrous alter ego, Kaiju No. 8.
The anime adaptation premiered in April 2024 and quickly gained popularity for its fast-paced storytelling, high-quality animation, and compelling character arcs. With a blend of action, drama, and sci-fi horror, Kaiju No. 8 has earned its place as one of the breakout anime hits of the decade.
