Funko has announced two new Funko Pop! vinyl figures to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the teen comedy film Cry-Baby.

Cry-Baby is a 1990 American musical teen romantic comedy film written and directed by John Waters.
Set in 1950s Baltimore, the movie is a satirical homage to the era’s greaser films and rockabilly culture, blending musical numbers with a rebellious love story. The film stars Johnny Depp in his breakout movie role as Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker, a misunderstood teen rebel known for his lone tear and bad-boy charm.
Cry-Baby leads a group of outcasts known as the “Drapes,” who clash with the town’s conformist “Squares.” Despite his delinquent reputation, Cry-Baby has a soft heart and dreams of something more than petty rebellion.
He becomes smitten with Allison Vernon-Williams, a prim and proper Square who is tired of her boring, uptight life. Drawn to Cry-Baby’s authenticity and excitement, Allison breaks away from her conservative boyfriend and repressive environment.
Their budding romance causes a stir in the town, triggering tensions between the Drapes and Squares. When Cry-Baby is wrongfully arrested and thrown into jail, the divide deepens, and Allison finds herself torn between societal expectations and her true feelings. Meanwhile, the Drapes band together to clear Cry-Baby’s name and challenge the town’s rigid norms.
With over-the-top performances, kitschy aesthetics, and a sharp sense of irony, Cry-Baby parodies the melodrama of 1950s teen culture while celebrating youthful rebellion and individuality. The soundtrack features energetic rockabilly songs that highlight the era’s musical spirit and add to the film’s campy appeal.
Although not a major box office success upon its release, the film gained a cult following over the years, particularly for its bold style, offbeat humor, and Depp’s charismatic performance.
It stands as a quirky counterpoint to more mainstream teen musicals like Grease, and was later adapted into a Broadway musical in 2007.
