Funko has announced a new wave of Marvel Deadpool (Literary Classics) Funko Pop! vinyl figures as part of the Deadpool Funko Pop! vinyl collection.
Deadpool Unleashed: From Origins to MCU Mayhem
Deadpool is one of Marvel’s most unconventional characters—an antihero known for his crude humor, ultraviolent methods, and constant breaking of the fourth wall.
Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool first appeared in The New Mutants #98 in 1991 as a villain but evolved into a chaotic good figure over time. His real name is Wade Wilson, a former special forces operative who becomes a mercenary.
After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he undergoes an experimental procedure through the Weapon X program, which grants him accelerated healing but leaves him disfigured and mentally unstable.
Deadpool’s defining trait is his personality: he’s foul-mouthed, self-aware, unpredictable, and constantly references pop culture. He mocks comic book clichés, narrates his own story, and frequently addresses the audience directly.
Deadpool made his cinematic debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), played by Ryan Reynolds. However, this version was heavily criticized—he lacked his trademark humor and had his mouth sewn shut.
Fans considered it a betrayal of the character. Reynolds later led the charge to reboot Deadpool the right way, resulting in the R-rated Deadpool (2016), a massive critical and commercial success.
The film stayed true to the comics: fast-paced, violent, and filled with sarcastic wit. It told Wade’s origin story, his transformation into Deadpool, and his quest to save his fiancée, Vanessa.
The sequel, Deadpool 2 (2018), expanded the universe. It introduced key characters like Cable (Josh Brolin), a time-traveling soldier, and Domino, known for her probability-altering luck. Deadpool forms a makeshift team called X-Force in an attempt to protect a young mutant, Russell (aka Firefist).
The film doubled down on the humor, action, and emotional weight, cementing Deadpool as a standalone box office powerhouse.
The latest entry, Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), marks Deadpool’s first official integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In this film, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) recruits Deadpool to help deal with a multiversal threat. He crosses paths with a variant of Wolverine, leading to an uneasy alliance.
Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine, making this a major event film. It was a massive hit, breaking records for R-rated films and drawing praise for balancing chaos, comedy, and emotional stakes.
Deadpool remains a fan favorite—unfiltered, unstoppable, and unlike anything else in the Marvel universe.

The newly announced wave includes four new Deadpool Literary Classics Funko Pop! vinyl figures, including Deadpool as Cthulhu, Deadpool as Don Quixote, Deadpool as Long John Silver, and Deadpool as Jacob Marley.
The new Deadpool Literary Classics figures are Funko Pop! Plus figures, a new variant of the traditional Funko Pop! vinyl figure.
The Funko Pop! Plus figures are the same size as the traditional Funko Pop! vinyl figures, but the Pop! Plus figures are posed with a larger prop or sculpted with another type of extended base structure.
