In early 2017, Funko expanded its business to the United Kingdom. The company acquired British toymaker Underground Toys and opened a brand new office in Hammersmith, London.
This new state-of-the-art office is 5,207-square-foot in size, and is an open-plan, collaborative working space for the Funko team. It’s centerpiece is a showroom exhibiting many of Funko’s new and upcoming products, including Pop!, Dorbz, homewares and plush.
The United Kingdom is always fast when it comes to adopting new trends. So it was only a matter of time before “Pop! Mania” broke out on the European island. The Pop! vinyl figures quickly became popular and the number of Funko Pop! shops in the UK grew rapidly.
Like the United States, the United Kingdom has a number of major shops involved in the sale of Pop! vinyl figurines. Well-known names such as Amazon, Pop In A Box and EMP are large and reliable Funko Pop! shops.
All three shops are partners of Funko and have their own so-called shop exclusives. Shop exclusives are special edition Pop! vinyl figures which are only sold in that particular shop. Shop exclusives are regularly released by Funko to ensure fair competition between the larger Pop! vinyl resellers.
The United Kingdom has many other Funko Pop! resellers or shops that are worth checking out. Small independent webshops, which generally have a more extensive range of Pop! vinyl figures than the larger shops.
