InuYasha is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi.
The series begins with Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old girl from modern-day Tokyo who is transported to the Sengoku period of feudal Japan after falling into a well in her family’s shrine. There she encounters the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha and discovers that the Shikon Jewel, a powerful magical artifact, has been reborn in her body.
After the Shikon Jewel is extracted from Kagome’s body, she accidentally shatters it into dozens of fragments that scatter across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome set out to recover the fragments of the jewel, and are joined in their quest by the monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango and the fox demon Shippō.
Together, they journey to restore the Shikon Jewel before it falls into the hands of the evil half-demon Naraku.
The manga was adapted into two anime television series by Sunrise. The first series, sometimes known as Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale, ran for 167 episodes on Yomiuri TV from October 2000 to September 2004. The second series, Inuyasha: The Final Act, ran for 26 episodes from October 2009 to March 2010.
A sequel anime tv series, titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, aired for two seasons from October 2020 to March 2022.
Characters from InuYasha have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Pop! Animation series. The newly announced wave includes nine new InuYasha Funko Pop! vinyl figures, including several exclusive variants.
