Funko has announced a new wave of Funko Pop! vinyl figures from the popular video game series Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game series and media franchise created by Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for the Japanese video game and entertainment company Sega.
The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist.
The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party and sports genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, feature films and merchandise.
Naka, Ohshima and Yasuhara developed the first Sonic game, released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis, to provide Sega with a mascot to compete with Nintendo’s Mario. Thanks to its success, Sega became one of the leading video game companies during the fourth generation of video game consoles in the early 1990s.
Characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Funko Pop! Games series.
The newly announced wave includes seven new Funko Pop! Games figures, including a GameStop Exclusive Glow in the Dark 2 Pack of Shadow & Super Shadow and a rare glitter chase Pop! figure of Super Sonic as an AAA Anime Exclusive.
In addition to the new Funko Pop! Games figures, Funko has announced a new Funko Pop! Rides figure of Dr. Eggman. The new Dr. Eggman Funko Pop! Rides figure is part of the Funko Pop! Rides series.
