The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). The film, an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was primarily directed by Victor Fleming.
The film tells the story of young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto, who are swept away by a tornado from their farm in Kansas to the magical Land of Oz, and with three new friends set out to find the wizard, who can return her to her house and fulfill the wishes of the others.
The Wizard of Oz premiered at the Orpheum Theatre in Green Bay, Wisconsin on August 10, 1939. Although the film was sufficiently popular at the box office, it did not generate a profit for MGM until its re-release in 1949.
The 1956 television broadcast premiere of the film on CBS reintroduced The Wizard of Oz to the public. According to the U.S. Library of Congress, it is the most seen film in movie history.

The newly announced wave includes ten new The Wizard of Oz (85th Anniversary) Funko Pop! vinyl figures, including two rare metallic chase variants of Cowardly Lion and Winged Monkey and a sepia Funko Pop! vinyl figure of Dorothy and Toto as a Funko Shop Exclusive.
In addition to the new Funko Pop! Movies figures, Funko has announced a new The Wizard of Oz (85th Anniversary) Funko Pop! Town figure. The newly announced Wizard of Oz with Emerald City Funko Pop! Town figure is the latest release of the Funko Pop! Town series.
