Funko has announced a new wave of Strawberry Shortcake Funko Pop! Retro Toys figures to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Strawberry Shortcake franchise.

Strawberry Shortcake is a cartoon character used in greeting cards originally published by American Greetings.
The character of Strawberry Shortcake, a young girl with freckles and a strawberry-print bonnet, was originally created in 1973 by Barbi Sargent, who was then working as a freelance artist for American Greetings, and first appeared on a Laurel Valentine’s Day greeting card.
In the late 1970s, the Strawberry Shortcake line was expanded with a large number of new characters and a storyline was created. The Strawberry Shortcake line of characters each had their own fruit or dessert-themed name with clothing to match, and they each had a fruit or dessert-named pet. The characters lived and played in a magical world known as Strawberryland.
In 1979, toy manufacturer Kenner Products licensed the Strawberry Shortcake character and released the first line of Strawberry Shortcake dolls. There were small poseable dolls as well as larger cloth rag dolls and the dolls were scented to match their name.
In the 1980s, Strawberry Shortcake became popular with children in the United States and the franchise expanded over the years to include television specials, animated television series, films and video games.
In 2024, the Strawberry Shortcake franchise will celebrate its 45th anniversary and Funko is joining the celebration by announcing three new Strawberry Shortcake Funko Pop! vinyl figures as part of the Funko Pop! Retro Toys series.
The Funko Pop! Retro Toys series contains Funko Pop! vinyl figures of iconic toys and toy characters from the 90s, 80s and earlier and of course the Strawberry Shortcake characters should not be missing from the Funko Pop! series.
The newly announced wave of Strawberry Shortcake (45th Anniversary) Funko Pop! Retro Toys figures includes three new figures including Huckleberry Pie, Raspberry Tart and Strawberry Shortcake.
