They are one of the most influential and successful bands in the genre, known for their energetic live performances, intricate guitar work, and operatic vocals, most famously by lead singer Bruce Dickinson.
The band’s sound is characterized by galloping bass lines, harmonized guitars, and epic themes drawn from history, literature and mythology.
Their breakthrough album, The Number of the Beast (1982), solidified their place in metal history, followed by other classic albums like Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988).
Their signature mascot, Eddie (also known as Eddie the Head), has become an iconic figure in the world of heavy metal, often featured on their album covers and in stage shows.
The band and its members have received multiple industry awards, including the Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, Silver Clef Award, Nordoff-Robbins Award, Ivor Novello Awards, Juno Awards and Guinness Book of World Records.
Despite lineup changes and evolving musical trends, Iron Maiden has remained a dominant force in metal, continuing to release albums and perform worldwide. Their influence extends across generations of metal bands, and they maintain a massive global fanbase.
