Squid Game is a South Korean survival thriller horror television series created, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix.
The series follows a deadly competition in which 456 financially struggling participants risk their lives in a series of children’s games for a chance to win 45.6 billion won (approximately $38 million). However, failure in any game results in death, making survival a dire challenge.
Each episode explores different stages of the competition, offering both thrilling action and an emotional dive into the contestants’ backstories and motivations.

Production for the second season began in July 2023, and was released on December 26, 2024. The third and final season was filmed back-to-back with the second season and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025.
