Funko has announced a new wave of Funko Pop! vinyl figures from the science fiction film Beneath the Planet of the Apes.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) is the second installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise, following the groundbreaking 1968 original.
Directed by Ted Post, this sci-fi film continues the story of astronaut Taylor (Charlton Heston) and introduces a new astronaut, Brent (James Franciscus), who crash-lands on the same mysterious, ape-ruled planet while searching for Taylor.
As Brent navigates this hostile world, he discovers that it’s not just ruled by evolved apes but is also hiding an underground civilization of telepathic, mutated humans who worship an ancient atomic bomb.
Tensions rise as Brent and Nova (Linda Harrison) try to survive amid the ongoing conflict between the apes and the mutants. The film culminates in a dark, apocalyptic ending that pushes the story into existential and philosophical territory.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes was released in the United States on May 26, 1970, by 20th Century-Fox.
While Beneath the Planet of the Apes didn’t receive as much acclaim as its predecessor, it is remembered for expanding the series’ lore, introducing the mutants, and deepening its themes on war, power, and humanity’s self-destructive tendencies.
