World of Warcraft: The War Within is the tenth expansion pack for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft (WoW), developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
It was released on August 26, 2024 and serves as the first part of the Worldsoul Saga trilogy of expansions, led by Chris Metzen, the executive creative director of the Warcraft franchise.
This expansion explores the hidden lands of Khaz Algar, home to the Earthen, a race of dwarves created by the Titans. Players delve deep beneath Azeroth into regions such as the Ringing Deeps and Azj-Kahet, confronting cosmic threats tied to the Void and the Harbinger Xal’atath, a recurring antagonist in WoW’s lore.
The story emphasizes character-driven narratives, featuring key figures like Anduin Wrynn and Alleria Windrunner, while introducing a new playable race (the Earthen) and raising the level cap to 80.
New game systems include Warbands, allowing shared progress across characters on the same account, and Delves, mini-dungeons designed for solo or small-group play. The expansion also offers eight dungeons, a raid, and updates to talent trees for all classes.
