G.I. Joe is an American media franchise and series of toy action figures owned and produced by the toy company Hasbro.
G.I. Joe originated from a 1940s comic strip called “Private Breger” and as a Hasbro licensed property, G.I. Joe comics have been released from 1967 to the present.
The G.I. Joe trademark has been used by Hasbro for several different toy lines, including the original 12-inch (30 cm) toy line introduced in February 1964, which focused on realistic action figures.
In 1982, the G.I. Joe product line was relaunched in a 3.75 inch (9.5 cm) scale, complete with vehicles, playsets and a complex backstory about an ongoing battle between the G.I. Joe Team and the evil Cobra organization seeking to take over the Free World through terrorism.
This relaunch pioneered several tactics in toy marketing, combining traditional advertising with an animated television mini-series and an ongoing comic book.
G.I. Joe characters have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Pop! Animation series and the Pop! Retro Toys series. Pop! collectors and retro toys enthusiasts can now look forward to the release of G.I. Joe’s Cobra F.A.N.G. Funko Pop! vinyl figure as part of the Pop! Rides series.
The Cobra F.A.N.G. is one of the vehicles used by the Cobra organization, led by the ruthless Cobra Commander. The Cobra F.A.N.G. is a fully armed negator gyrocopter, including a machine gun, four missiles and a bomb.
The G.I. Joe Cobra F.A.N.G. Funko Pop! Rides figure is a GameStop exclusive and has a June 2022 release date.
