Dr. Greenthumb is a 1998 single by Cypress Hill, an American multi-platinum Hip Hop group from South Gate, California.
The song is about B-Real, one of the group’s leading rappers, who tells a story about his alter ego Dr. Greenthumb, a cannabis/marijuana grower.
As one of Cypress Hill’s leading rappers, B-Real and his group members were one of the first bands to rap almost exclusively about weed, and some of the first to embrace it publicly in a culture where it was still taboo.
Whether they intended to or not, they started a revolution, and whether he wanted to or not, B-Real became a celebrated godfather to the modern cannabis movement.
