Halloween is an American slasher media franchise that consists of twelve films, as well as novels, comic books, a video game and other merchandise.
The films mainly focus on Michael Myers who was admitted to a sanitarium as a child for the murder of his sister Judith Myers. Fifteen years later, he escapes to stalk and murder the people of the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. Michael’s murders take place on the holiday of Halloween, on which all films mainly take place.
The original Halloween, released in 1978, was written and directed by John Carpenter, and eleven films have followed since the original was released. A direct sequel to the original film, ignoring all previous sequels, was released in 2018. The sequel to the 2018 film, Halloween Kills, was released in 2021 and the final sequel, Halloween Ends, is set to release in 2022.
