Funko has announced new Digimon: Digital Monsters Funko Pop! vinyl figures as part of the Funko Pop! Digimon collection.

Digimon (branded as Digimon: Digital Monsters), short for “Digital Monsters”, is a Japanese media franchise that includes virtual pet toys, manga, anime television series, movies, video games and a trading card game.
The franchise revolves around monsters of various forms living in a “Digital World”, a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks.
The Digimon franchise began in 1997 as a series of virtual pets created by WiZ and Bandai, intended as a male counterpart to the more female-oriented Tamagotchi pets. The Digital Monsters were first designed to look cute and iconic, even on the small screens of the devices; later developments had them made with a harder style, influenced by American comics.
The original Digital Monster model released in 1997 has sold 14 million units worldwide through March 2004, including 13 million units in Japan and 1 million units abroad. By 2005, more than 24 million Digital Monster units had been sold worldwide.
Since 1999, multiple Digimon anime television series have been produced by Toei Animation. The first of these was Digimon Adventure, which started out as a short film, but after the storyboard was done, a request was made to make the film into a television series. The film debuted in theaters a day before the series debuted on TV.
Nine Digimon anime television series have been released in the Digimon franchise with a total of 519 episodes.
Characters from the popular Digimon franchise have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Funko Pop! Animation series. The first Digimon Funko Pop! vinyl figures were released in 2018, celebrating the 21st anniversary of the Digimon franchise.
Funko has announced Gomamon and Patamon as new Digimon Funko Pop! vinyl figures, with a release date of August 2023.
