Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by the Duffer Brothers for streaming service Netflix. The hit television series has four seasons.
Stranger Things is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, during the early 1980s. The nearby Hawkins National Laboratory ostensibly performs scientific research for the United States Department of Energy, but secretly does experiments into the paranormal and supernatural, including experiments involving human subjects.
They accidentally created a portal to an alternate dimension, “the Upside Down”. The influence of the Upside Down begins to have disastrous consequences for the unwitting inhabitants of Hawkins.
The first season of Stranger Things was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016. The second and third seasons followed in October 2017 and July 2019 respectively, and the fourth season aired in two parts in May and July 2022. In February 2022, Stranger Things was renewed for a fifth and final season.
