Funko has announced new Sanrio Hello Kitty Funko Pop! vinyl figures to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary.

Sanrio is a Japanese company that designs, licenses, and manufactures character merchandise, including stationery, school supplies, gifts and accessories, that target the kawaii (“cute”) segment of Japanese popular culture.
Sanrio’s most famous character is Hello Kitty, also known by her real name Kitty White, a little white cat with a red bow and one of the most successful marketing brands in the world. Together with other Sanrio characters, including My Melody and Cinnamoroll, they form Hello Kitty and Friends.
Hello Kitty was created in 1974 and the first item, a vinyl coin purse, was introduced in 1975. Originally, Hello Kitty was only marketed to pre-teen girls, but from the 1990s onwards the brand also saw commercial success among teenage and adult consumers. Hello Kitty will celebrate her 50th birthday in November 2024.
The popular Sanrio characters have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Funko Pop! Sanrio series. The Pop! Sanrio series includes Funko Pop! vinyl figures, including Hello Kitty and Friends, in various themes.
