Two legendary music groups, from the 80s and 90s, have been transformed into Pop! vinyl style and will be added to the Pop! Rocks series in the coming months.

Let’s first go back to the 80s, where Run DMC, a hip hop group from New York, dominated the Hip Hop scene for many years. Rappers Run and DMC, along with their DJ, Jam Master Jay, have many hits to their name, including “It’s Like That”, “Christmas In Hollis” and “Walk This Way” featuring Rock band Aerosmith. DJ Jam Master Jay passed away in 2002.

Funko and Run DMC are no strangers to each other. In 2012 the three members of Run DMC were already transformed into Pop! vinyl and the vinyl figures of the Hip Hop group are among the first figures from the Pop! Rocks series.

In memory of Jam Master Jay, Funko is releasing three new Pop! vinyl figures from Run DMC. Run and DMC in their recognizable Adidas sneakers and Jam Master Jay behind his turntable. The release of the new Run DMC vinyl figures is scheduled for February 2021. The new figure from DMC will be the 200th figure in the Pop! Rocks series.

Heading into the 90s, where TLC, a female R&B group from Atlanta, Georgia, enjoyed worldwide success with their many hits. With a number of multi-platinum albums and many hit records to their name, including “Creep”, “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls”, the three ladies of TLC have earned a spot in the Pop! Rocks series.

T-Boz, Left Eye and Chili (TLC) are transformed into Pop! vinyl style, inspired by scenes from the “Waterfalls” music video. The video also shows scenes from liquid versions of TLC performing on the song, while standing on top of an ocean and performing in front of a real waterfall.

A smart and fun move by Funko, because they know what to do with liquid versions of Pop! vinyl figures. So in addition to the three regular Pop! vinyl figures that will be released, each figure will also get a chase translucent version. The release of the TLC Pop! vinyl figures is scheduled for January 2021.
