E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (or simply E.T.) is a 1982 American science fiction film produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Melissa Mathison.
It tells the story of Elliott, a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial dubbed E.T., who is left behind on Earth. Along with his friends and family, Elliott must find a way to help E.T. return home while avoiding the government.
E.T. premiered as the closing film of the Cannes Film Festival on May 26, 1982, and was released in the United States on June 11, 1982. The film was an immediate blockbuster, surpassing Star Wars to become the highest-grossing film of all time, a record it held for eleven years until Spielberg’s own Jurassic Park surpassed it in 1993.
The first Funko Pop! vinyl figures from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial were released in 2014 as part of the Pop! Movies series.
Funko has announced a new wave of Pop! figures to celebrate the 40th anniversary of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The new wave features new and better looking Pop! figures, compared to the figures from 2014 and includes some variants of E.T., as well as Pop! figures from Elliott and his older sister Gertie.
Of course, Funko has not forgotten to transform the iconic movie moment of the film, Elliott flying in the air on a bicycle with E.T. in the bicycle basket, into a Pop! Moment figure.
