Funko has announced a new wave of Funko Pop! vinyl figures from the animated superhero tv series The New Adventures of Captain Planet.

The New Adventures of Captain Planet is an American animated environmentalist superhero television series created by Barbara Pyle and Ted Turner.
It is a sequel to Captain Planet and the Planeteers, which was produced by Turner Program Services and DIC Enterprises and aired on TBS and in syndication from September 15, 1990 to December 5, 1992.
The New Adventures of Captain Planet, was produced by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc., distributed by Turner Program Services and aired from September 11, 1993 to May 11, 1996.
The series is about five Planeteers named Kwame, Linka, Wheeler, Gi and Ma-Ti, normal youths from different parts of the world. They fight against all forms of environmental pollution by using five magical rings given to them by the spirit of the earth Gaia.
Each ring has a special power: earth, wind, fire, water and heart, or love. By combining the powers of the rings, the Planeteers can summon the superhero Captain Planet, who helps them solve ecological and other global problems.
The Captain Planet series is a form of edutainment and advocates for environmentalism and is known for having a number of famous actors voice the villains. The show was the second longest-running cartoon series of the 1990s, producing 113 episodes.
Characters from The New Adventures of Captain Planet have been transformed into Funko Pop! vinyl figures and are part of the Funko Pop! Animation series. The newly announced wave includes six new Funko Pop! vinyl figures of the five Planeteers and of Captain Planet.
