Disney’s Snow White, or simply Snow White, is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
The film, produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Marc Platt Productions, is a live-action reinterpretation of the classic 1937 animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, itself based on the Brothers Grimm’s 1812 fairy tale “Snow White”.
Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White, portraying a more independent and empowered version of the character. Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen, bringing a complex and captivating presence to the iconic villain.
The film follows Snow White as she flees her wicked stepmother, finding refuge in the forest with seven mystical companions. Unlike the original animated dwarfs, the characters have been reimagined using CGI and a diverse cast.
The movie blends classic elements like the magic mirror and poisoned apple with new storylines to expand Snow White’s character development. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the award-winning duo behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman, contribute original songs to complement the classic soundtrack.
With a mix of nostalgia and innovation, Snow White (2025) aims to honor the legacy of Disney’s first animated feature while appealing to contemporary audiences with a fresh, empowering take on the timeless fairy tale.
Snow White is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 21, 2025.
