Throughout the year, the Funko Pop! collector is exposed to the release of a large number of exclusive Pop! vinyl figures during the various conventions, the so-called Funko Pop! vinyl Convention Exclusives.

A number of major comic book conventions, also known as comic cons, are held each year in the United States. A comic con is usually an annual “fan convention”, dedicated to comics, cosplay, anime, manga, movies, videos games and toys.
Conventions are a perfect place to introduce new products to the general public and of course Funko is aware of this. In 2010, Funko introduced and presented the Pop! vinyl line, then called Funko Force 2.0, to the general public at San Diego Comic-Con.
Since then, Funko has been a regular exhibitor on several comic cons, including San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), New York Comic Con (NYCC), Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), LA Comic Con (LACC) and WonderCon (Anaheim Comic-Con).
And at every convention, it has become a habit of Funko to release new and exclusive Pop! vinyl figures, appropriately called Convention Exclusives. The Convention Exclusives are Pop! vinyl figures, exclusively released for a comic con, and offered to the public during the event by both Funko and the shared retailers.
The shared retailers are a number of major resellers of Funko Pop! vinyl figures in the United States and Canada, who are assigned their own convention exclusive figure or figures during each comic con. Shared retailers include Amazon, Toy Tokyo, Hot Topic, GameStop and Entertainment Earth.
Convention Exclusives can be “Booth Only” figures, sold on-site at the Funko booth at the event or convention, or they can be “Shared Exclusives,” sold by Funko Shop as well as the shared retailers.
All Funko Pop! Convention Exclusives are recognizable by the unique convention sticker on the box, where the sticker of Booth Only figures differs from the Shared Exclusives because this sticker contains a convention logo.
Because of their exclusivity, Pop! vinyl Convention Exclusives are very popular among Pop! vinyl collectors and often have a higher collection value than normal Pop! vinyl figures.
Many Pop! vinyl collectors are looking forward to every new comic con on the agenda. And especially to the list of Pop! vinyl convention exclusives, which Funko releases well before every event.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is not possible to physically visit conventions this year. For the time being, New York Comic Con 2020 will still be held this year, where all other comic cons have been canceled.
But instead of attending physical events, Funko is bringing the convention spirit virtually to your home this year with Funko Virtual Con.
Just like Emerald City Comic Con and WonderCon earlier this year, which where held as Funko Virtual Con 1.0 and 2.0, all Funko and Pop! vinyl convention exclusive offers will take place online.
The upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2020 will be Funko’s third virtual con. Funko Virtual Con 3.0 will take place from July 19 to July 25, 2020. Funko Pop! vinyl convention exclusives are offered directly online during the virtual con by both Funko and the shared retailers.
