The NBA All-Star Weekend 2022 may have just ended, but NBA All-Star players from the past come to life in the new upcoming Funko Pop! vinyl NBA All-Stars collection.
The NBA All-Star Game is a basketball exhibition game hosted every February by the NBA and showcases 24 of the league’s star players. It is the featured event of the NBA All-Star Weekend, a three-day event that runs from Friday to Sunday. The All-Star Weekend also includes some popular exhibition games and competitions featuring NBA players.
The first NBA All-Star Game was hosted at the Boston Garden on March 2, 1951, where the Eastern All-Stars team defeated the Western All-Stars team. The 71st anniversary of the NBA All-Star-Game was celebrated at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, where Team LeBron took a 163-160 win over Team Durant.
Over the years, many NBA stars have appeared in an NBA All-Star Game, and as of February 14, 2022, 443 players have been selected to an All-Star Game, with 302 players having earned multiple All-Star selections.
With 18 appearances, LeBron James is joint second with Kobe Bryant on the list of players with the most All-Star selections in history. The list is topped by former Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 19 selections.
Funko has transformed former NBA All-Star players into Funko Pop! vinyl figures, which will be included in the new upcoming Pop! NBA All-Stars collection.
The Funko Pop! NBA All-Stars collection is part of the Pop! NBA Basketball series and the first figure in the collection was released at Target Con 2022, where former NBA star player Magic Johnson comes to life in his appearance during the 1986 NBA All-Star Game.
Six other Funko Pop! NBA All-Stars figures have been announced, including former NBA star players Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Karl Malone and John Stockton. The Pop! All-Stars figures have a release date in May 2022.
